We would like to welcome Sarah Sawyer to the Medical Centre as our new receptionist in June, a lot of you will recognise Sarah from the Nether Stowey and Williton Library so please be kind as she will have a lot to learn in her first few months.
We would also like to congratulate Jan (from Dispensary) for her new job at Cannington Health Centre in their Dispensary; Jan had been at the Practice for nearly 20 years, her kind calm nature will be greatly missed by all.
We are looking forward to the Nether Stowey Party in the Park where there will be lots of activities and treats including our Singing Group Performing a few songs which we hope you will go along and support them and join in, and if you like what you see come and join the Group in the Sable loft on a Wednesday at 10am.
The Walking Group is looks forward to Elisabeth and Lynne joining us again as walk leaders after their travels (and surgery) and exploring new areas, I especially enjoyed my walk with the group last month where I saw so many wild flowers and different butterflies. It was a real treat to get out from my office/cupboard! I need to start paying more attention to the nature and beauty around us in Nether Stowey.
The Garden/Allotment Group have been working so hard planting out their Veg garden and are looking to put in raised beds this summer, If you are interested in joining this group do come in to the Practice and ask to be put I touch with the team.
Our Patient Participation Group met in May and are very keen to hold a number of events in the village around the subject of ‘planning and preparedness’ for when we depart (the planet not the Country on holiday!). Where we will try to break the taboos associated with talking about death openly, and encourage people to think and talk positively about their plans for the end of life. The events will be about helping people to feel less anxious and fearful about these issues and share experiences and ideas which may be a great help to those left behind, we are planning to hold these events in September so watch out for dates and if you would like to consider about these issues before these events there are a number of resources available including a useful booklet from website: independentage.org, also Age UK also have a lot of useful information on this subject.
Last but not least not sure if I have mentioned in a newsletter before but there is an NHS App for mobile devises for patients to use to order their repeat medications, book appointments and view coded aspects of their medical records on line. Patients need to complete an online access form available from Reception or dispensary in order to set this up on the system.
