Healthy living groups run by or from Quantock Medical Centre and the Patient Participation Group.
Art and craft group
The art and craft group is held on the first and third Tuesday of every month between 2pm and 4pm at the Church Centre, Nether Stowey. Everyone welcome and again transport can be arranged, just contact Helen Stacey at the Medical Centre.
There are some painting supplies available to use and a small donation is required to pay for the room hire and keep the supplies topped up (£4), but you are welcome to bring a long any projects you are currently working on, be they painting or another craft project. While this is not a lesson, there are some very talented artists participating who can pass on some useful tips should you require them. For more information contact the Medical Centre or Diane Faris from the PPG who runs the group.
Community gardening group
We are still quite a small group with only 8 members and it would be great if we could encourage some more members of community to get involved. This is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise and meet some wonderful and like-minded people.
If anyone would like a small section of the community allotment to start growing you are very welcome.
The team currently consists of Deborah and Tom Foy, Sally and John Friend
Any of us are happy to talk to you about the project or you can get in touch via Helen at the surgery.
The singing group is a great chance to get together on a Wednesday morning at 10.30am at The Old Bakery St Mary Street Nether Stowey next to the shop. The group are very friendly and welcoming and have a vast array of different songs that they sing a long with lots of different breathing exercises to improve lung health and performance. Everyone is welcome and transport can be organised for you if you have any difficulty getting there. We do ask for a small donation to go towards the room hire. For more information contact Helen Stacey at the Medical Centre.
Walking for health
Our walking for health group meets every Tuesday at 10.30am for those walks which start at the Medical Centre and some from further a field throughout the Quantock AONB (those walks start a little earlier, meeting at the Medical Centre at 10.15am and sharing a lift to the location). Lifts can be organised and these can be arranged through either the Medical Centre or Elizabeth Woolcock who runs the walks. for more information visit the health walks in Sedgemoor website or call in at the Medical Centre where you can pick up a list of walks. The programme changes every month.
