Community Healthy Living Groups

In this section you will find up to date information regarding the Healthy Living Groups that are run by or from Quantock Medical Centre and the PPG.

Community Gardening Group

The Community Gardening Project is going from strength to strength with a dedicated team of gardening or ‘grow-your-own’ enthusiasts regularly planting, watering and harvesting their beloved crops!  This year they have grown courgettes, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers and beans, and plans are already afoot to double the plot and produce more next season!  The team are currently contemplating a raised bed section to allow access to the Project for those who may wish to be able to cultivate their own crops but are unable to partake of the heavy lifting and bending that is required for the rest of the site.

The Team are very friendly and welcoming and can often be found have a meeting in one of the local pubs in the village.

This is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise and meet some wonderful and like-minded people.

Please contact the team via Helen Stacey or Kate at the Medical Centre if you would like to get involved.

Singing Group

The singing group is a great chance to get together on a Wednesday morning at 10am at the Stable Loft, Nether Stowey Church Centre.  The group are very friendly and welcoming and have a vast array of different songs that they sing a long with lots of different breathing exercises to improve lung health and performance.  Everyone is welcome and transport can be organised for you if you have any difficulty getting there.  We do ask for a small donation to go towards the room hire.

Art Group

The Art Group is held on the 1st Tuesday of every month between 1-3pm at the Church Centre, Nether Stowey.  Everyone welcome and again transport can be arranged, just contact Kate or Helen at the Medical Centre.  There are some supplies available to use and a small donation is required to pay for the room hire and keep the supplies topped up, but you are welcome to bring a long any projects you are currently working on.  While this is not a lesson, there are some very talented artists participating who I am sure can pass on some useful tips should you require them.

Walking for Health

Our Walking for Health Group meets every Tuesday at 11am.  Some walks start at the Medical Centre and some from further a field throughout the Quantock AONB.  Lifts can be organised and these can be arranged through either the Medical Centre or Elizabeth Woolcock who runs the walks.  Please see the attached document for information on timings and locations of the walks from January to March 2019.
